This whole blogging thing is new for me so excuse the awkwardness of the first few posts. I'll start by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Abby Meachem and this semester starts my junior year at SMC where I am an English/Theater double major. I'm involved in many aspects of the Theater department and Drama Club at school. I also help out with Founder's Society where I'm a tour guide and now a blogger as well! I just returned home to Queensbury, NY after spending an amazing summer working at Tabor Academy in Marion, MA. I got to teach kids from all over the world how to play lacrosse and appreciate theater. All the counselors at the program were my age or older so I met a lot of new people and had a lot of fun getting to know them. So far, my experience at St. Mike's has been amazing and I can't believe how fast the first two years have flown by! I've made great friends and have thoroughly enjoyed everything that life in Burlington has to offer. Now, I'm about to start a new chapter of my SMC experience somewhere very far from Vermont.
In roughly two and a half weeks, I'll be boarding a plane for LONDON, ENGLAND! This hadn't really hit home for me until recently when all my friends' Facebook statuses read: "Back to SMC tomorrow! Can't wait!" etc. etc.. For the first time, I realized that I wouldn't be joining everyone back at school and that spending a semester in London was no longer just something exciting to tell family and friends. For the first time, going to London feels very real. Right now, I'm anxious and excited. For those of you who know me, you can imagine the meltdowns I've had in regards to packing 3 months into one suitcase, how I'm going to communicate with people at home, and whether or not the Brits have my favorite hair gel. I hope this blog is a place I can share my travel stories, post new pictures and videos, and keep in touch with life at SMC. Check back often for updates and follow me as I spend a semester in London!
